  12. I am working on a cellular  emergency location product.  Currently a key 
  13. issue is the time it takes for a modem to connect using V.22 bis and V.25
  14. autoconnect  protocols (~ 10 sec total for V.2bis at 2400 baud).  We only use half-
  15. duplex operation and send a sgort ( <1 kbyte) burst of data.  Does
  16. anyone have any suggestions on how to shorten the connect time for the
  17. modems?  From the literature, it looks like of we don't use auto-connect,
  18. and echo-suppression per V.25, the connect time should be shortened.  I have had 
  19. zero luck with trying to configure a Zxcel modem w/o the autoconnnect tones though.
